PRODUCTION PROCESS

I-beam is mainly produced by rolling method. In modern steel rolling production, I beam is rolled by rolling mill. The web of the I-beam is rolled between the upper and lower horizontal rolls, and the flange is rolled between the side of the horizontal roll and the vertical roll at the same time.

Since the edge of the flange can not be pressed by the rolling mill alone, it is necessary to set the edge rolling end machine, commonly known as the edge rolling machine, behind the stand to press the edge of the flange and control the flange width.

In the actual rolling operation, the two stands are taken as a group to make the rolled pieces pass through the rolling mill for several times, or the rolled pieces pass through the continuous rolling mill consisting of several stands and one or two edge rolling end stands. A certain amount of reduction is applied each time to roll the blanks into the products of the required specifications, shapes and sizes.

At the flange of the rolled piece, due to the sliding between the side of the horizontal roll and the rolled piece, the wear of the roll is relatively large. In order to ensure that the loaded roll can restore its original shape, the side of the upper and lower horizontal rolls of the roughing mill and the corresponding vertical roll surface should be inclined at an angle of 3 °~8 °. In order to correct the inclination of the flange of the finished product, a finished mill, also called finishing mill, is set. The side of the horizontal roll is perpendicular to the axis of the horizontal roll or has a small inclination angle, generally no more than 20 '. The vertical roll is cylindrical.

When I beam is rolled by rolling mill, the section of the rolled piece can be extended more evenly, and the speed difference between the inner and outer roll surfaces of the flange is small, which can reduce the internal stress of the product and the defects on the shape. By properly changing the reduction of horizontal roll and vertical roll of rolling mill, different specifications of I-beam can be obtained. The roll shape of the rolling mill is simple and has a long service life. The consumption of the roll can be greatly reduced.

The greater advantage of rolling I-beam by rolling mill is that only the thickness of web and flange is changed in the same size series, and the dimensions of other parts are fixed.
Therefore, the same series of I-beams rolled by the same pass have a variety of web and flange thickness specifications, which greatly increases the number of I-beams and selects the appropriate size gauge for users











APPLICATION

I-beam is mainly used in various building structures, vehicles, bridge supports, machinery, etc.
Whether ordinary or light, the section size of I-shaped steel is relatively high and narrow, so there is a large difference between the inertia moments of the two main axes of the section, so it can only be directly used for bending members in the web plane or to form lattice stressed members.

It is not suitable to use axial compression members or members with bending perpendicular to the web plane, which has a great limitation in the scope of application. I-beams are widely used in buildings or other metal structures.

Ordinary I-beam and light I-beam, due to their relatively high and narrow section dimensions, have a large difference in the inertia moment of the two main sleeves of the section, which makes them have a great limitation in the scope of application. The use of I-beam shall be selected according to the requirements of design drawings.

In the structural design, the I-beam shall be selected reasonably according to its mechanical properties, chemical properties, weldability, structural dimensions, etc.
