Description:
High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) is a type of polystyrene (PS) with increased impact strength. Homopolymer PS is frequently brittle, but it can be made more impact resistant by combining it with other materials. This type of PS is typically made by adding 5-10% rubber or butadiene copolymer. This increases the polymer's toughness and impact strength, resulting in a very stiff product that is ideal for packaging applications.
