Organic/ Classic Raw king size Slim Rolling Paper;
Raw Kingsize Slim Organic Rolling Papers are made from Pure Hemp which has been organically grown. The hemp paper is 100% chlorine free and unbleached which gives it a natural light brown colour. The hybrid blend and unbleached fibres result in a thin golden brown almost translucent smoking paper.
Each paper is individual watermarked with a Criss Cross which helps prevents runs and creates a more even burning rolling paper. Due to Hemp Gum being used if the gum does not stick as well as you like run the flame of your lighter along the length of the paper to give you a bit more stickiness. Once alight the taste is clean, pure and natural

To this day many smokers still refer to Rizla as the general word for smoking or rolling papers.

What took off in the UK in the early 1980’s was to change how rolling papers can be used, RIPS® Rolling Papers became the first company to place rolling paper on roll, this new way of making your own size rolling cigarettes was a revolution with-in the industry and now RIPS® as well as other companies such as Elements, EZ Rolls, OCB, Smoking and many more now sell papers on a roll.

Rolling paper by material;
All rolling papers that are available have base materials that underline the manufacturing process; there are now several different Cigarette Rolling Paper Materials being made into rolling papers today.
Hemp rolling paper comes from the hemp plant itself, the fibre of the plant is made into a hemp pulp which in turn is then used to make the paper. Hemp pulp is not cheap to make, on average it can be 500% more expensive than wood pulp, this is probably why most smoking papers are not made from hemp.
Pure Hemp rolling paper tends to be thicker than average rolling papers but mixed with Flax the paper can be made ultra thin. Flax rolling paper is made in a similar way to Hemp, both being plants that are expensive to manufacture and both using the fibre from the plant to create a pulp, the Flax pulp then being made into Flax rolling papers.
A number of brands offer Hemp and Flax as a mixture of both in their papers including OCB as well as Flax papers themselves. Rice based rolling paper is very popular among all brands of smoking papers, relatively a simple process to make, you need to process the rice itself and then using a machines press the rice into thin sheets.
The big advantage with rice paper is you can make very thin rolling papers, in fact Smoking Papers offer ultra-thin smoking papers that are nearly translucent and they tend to burn a lot slower. Wood pulp rolling paper is used more often than any other paper, most cigarettes are made from wood pulp paper.
The natural colour of wood pulp rolling papers is a light tan colour, but they will burn slight quicker than average papers. Zig Zags offer a range of Wood Pulp & Flax which are very popular in the USA.
Growing in popularity is the use of Chlorine Free, Unbleached natural vegan smoking papers which as a result have the natural brown colour, no added chemicals and use natural hemp base glues, RAW is the leader with-in this market. Last, but not least is a rolling paper which was available to buy from 2006, the first paper of its kind to be completely transparent.
Transparent rolling papers are made primarily from natural plant cellulose but do contain a small amount of glycerine and water. It has no gum so just lick as usual and it seals itself, has no taste and is also biodegradable and is available from Aleda.
Cigarette rolling paper sizes do vary from brand to brand, if you take as an example a 1¼ paper the width can be from 1.7 – 2.4 inches, these type of variations can been seen across all major brands selling smoking papers.
The length tends to be the same across the paper brands but thicknesses will vary as well. The general rule being the wider the paper the more tobacco can be used and this can be said for the length as well.
The longer and wider a rolling paper the more tobacco can be used. The width of the rolling paper is important as this is the guide to how much tobacco can placed into each size of paper.
There are 5 different types of width of papers, Single Wide, 1¼ (125), 11/2 and Double Wide (2) and King-size. Although the papers are referred to as numbers they are not measured in millimetres/inches or centimetres, the number relates to how much tobacco can be used.
A 1¼ rolling paper will hold on average 25% more tobacco than a Single Wide paper, if you then take a 11/2 rolling paper this will contain 50% more tobacco than a Single Wide paper and on it goes. As a general rule the paper sizes are:
Single Wide Rolling Papers Size: 1.5 – 1.7 Inches (38 to 43mm) (3.8 to 4.3cm) Also known as Small Rolling Papers
1¼ (125) Rolling Papers Size: 1.7 – 2 Inches (43 to 50mm) (4.3 to 5 cm) 1¼ (125) Rolling Paper Size are also referred to as French or Spanish Size
1 1/2 (1.5) Rolling Papers Size: 2.4 – 3 Inches (60 to 76mm) (6 to 7.6 cm)
Double Wide Rolling Papers Size: 2.5 – 3.5 Inches (63 to 88mm) (6.3 to 9 cm)
King Size Rolling Papers: Historically it’s been 84mm in length, but can be 100mm in length
King Size Slims are 110mm in length
By far the most popular size is the King Size and the slightly longer King Size Slims in Europe, although in the USA and Canada 1¼ rolling papers are more popular. All brands carry a number of variants of these 3 sizes and come in all materials from Pure Hemp to Rice Rolling Papers.
Choosing what rolling papers suits your needs best will come down to what size you feel comfortable with and then what material you best like. Cigarette Rolling Paper Brands will play a huge choice and brand loyalty will to some degree decide what papers you buy in the future.
